MAN Vintners Tormentoso Cabernet Sauvignon 2010

Varietal Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Grape Source: Dry-land vineyards in Agter-Paarl. Analysis: Alc 14.0% RS 3.0g/L TA 5.6 g/L pH: 3.5. Vinification details: Grapes were given a one day cold maceration. Fermentation took place over 5 days in stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs. Just before the end of fermentation, the wine was pressed and put back into tank for malo-lactic fermentation. 100% of the wine was matured in 225L and 300L oak barrels (60% new) for 12 months. Fined and filtered before bottling with screw cap closures.

Varietal Blend: 90% Shiraz 10% Mourvedre. Grape Source: Dry-farmed vineyards in Agter-Paarl region. Analysis: Alc 14.0% RS 2.86 g/L TA 5.6 g/L pH: 3.46. Vinification details: Dry-land vineyards on shale soils grow small flavorful grapes with concentrated fruit flavors and minerality. The grapes were hand-harvested at optimum ripeness and given a one day cold maceration. Fermentation took place over 5 days in stainless steel tanks with regular pump-overs. Just before the end of fermentation, the wine was pressed and put back into tank for malo-lactic fermentation.

The Show combines grapes from the Central Coast, Sonoma County, Lake County, Lodi and Monterey AVAs. Anchored by full-bodied Cabernet, it also features Petite Sirah which gives it a deep ruby color and a hint of violets on the nose. The Show is aged in French and American oak. Big and bold, it is dominated by full flavors of dried black cherries, jammy preserves and complex toasty, vanilla, and spicy oak. 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petite Sirah & 2% Zinfandel. Alcohol: 13.65%.

Leyda Valley is a relatively new Chilean growing region (2002) that is characterized by rolling loamy hills, scattered with quartz and granite gravel, starting about 2.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Only the most adventurous and pioneering winemakers are willing to challenge this extreme, new appellation. The Three Thieves were excited about this region as it reminded them of their very own Sonoma Coast, known for producing amazingly complex wines.

This Malbec comes from two very special regions within Mendoza, Argentina. 85% of the wine comes from the acclaimed Lujan de Cuyo sub-region from a vineyard called “El Alto”, which is 3,000+ feet above sea level. This region brings dark fruit character and broad ripe tannins to The Show Malbec. The other 15% of the Malbec comes from the Uco Valley which is south of Lujan de Cuyo, yet closer to the Andes Mountains and at an even higher altitude. This region adds Malbec with more acidity and complexity. The Show Malbec was aged for 9 months in 25% French oak.

Grape varieties: 50% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Franc, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep red color. Bouquet of red fruit (red currant) before developing more complex aromas and well digested tannins. An excellent balance characterizes this wine and most wine-lovers appreciate its elegance and well rounded style. A great value Bordeaux. Can be cellared up to 5 years. Best served 17°c-18°c.

Grape varieties: 85% Grenache (50+ year old vines), 10% Mourvedre & 5% Syrah. Winemaking: fermentation in open vats with crushing by foot and juice running directly into barrels. Aging: 12 months in oak barrels. Tasting notes: A brilliant wine. It’s deep ruby plum color is followed by stunning aromas of kirsch, liquorice, Provencal herbs, pepper and spice. The wine possesses fabulous fruit, an opulent, voluptuously textured mouth feel, tremendous purity and a very long finish. Drink 3 to 5 years. Serve at 16°C-17°C.

Blend: Shiraz 99%, Viognier 1%. Grape source: 100% Perdeberg Hills in Paarl. Wine analysis: Alc 14.0% • RS 4.9 g/l • TA 5.5 g/l • pH 3.58. Wine description & food pairing: Aromas of ripe plum and spices, mouth-filling sweet red-berry flavors and gentle tannins characterize this wine. A touch of Viognier was co-fermented with the Shiraz for the aromatic lift it gives to the wine, which emphasizes the berry fruit and spice aromas on the nose. The American oak barrels give a hint of vanilla spice on the nose and contribute to the smooth silky tannins. Serve at 16°C-17°C.

Grape varieties: 100% Syrah. Winemaking: fermentation in concrete tanks for 3 to 5 weeks. Aging: 12 months in oak barrels (1, 2 and 3 years old). Tasting notes: Bright red color, flowers, spicy, tapenade of black olives, dark chocolate and red fruits will develop during the aging. Powerful and pure in the mouth, great length.

Grape varieties : 55% Syrah, 45% Grenache. Winemaking: Fermentation in stainless steel tanks, temperature control and aging in concrete tanks. Tasting notes: Bright dark red color. Fresh and ripe fruit nose of blackcurrant, marked by Provencal herbs which will develop during the aging. Powerful and pure in the mouth, very elegant, fruity palate which has good length. Very sensual wine.
